Black max are the same hydraulic shock as the Hydro but theBlack max includes Skyjackers foam cell technology which compensates for fluid expansion during high heat cycles to maintain the same ride quality without wearing out. This benefits you most if you plan to use your truck hard or in off-road scenarios. 

2" Lift - Fits up to a  32" tires safely, requires extended brake lines

4" Lift - Fits 33" tires, require bumpstop spacers, extended brake lines and drop pitman arm. 

To increase tire size over recommended check out adding a 1" body lift or increasing shackle length.
